Ep. 1 – Fewer Things Better

Welcome to Episode 1.

This podcast has been a work in progress.

The intention of it is two things: to offer a collection of ideas and be a conversation starter.

A lot of the topics that you’re going to hear are centered on information and ideas from this go, go digital world that we live in, plus the evolving social dimensions of our very noisy world.

I’ll be bringing forward thoughts and excerpts from research, neuroscience, psychology, habits, and plain old human behavior.

None of this is meant to be a solution. You are the only expert of you.

Rather, this is meant to be a place where you can get thought starters, snacks for your brain, ideas to try on, and actions to test out.

Here’s the qualifier. I’m not an expert.

I’m a very curious person. I’m a former journalist and I spent two decades in corporate communications from non-profits to the top of the Fortune 50.

But that doesn’t make me an expert. Like you I’ve often been more busy than productive. I’ve been grateful for what I have yet I’ve still been left wanting something more.

What I am is a few things.

I am a nerd. I consume books, articles, and podcasts, and I’m an enthusiastic conversation starter. I will talk to anybody about just about anything.

I’m a facilitator. The majority of my professional life has been bringing content as a trainer, as a speaker to tens of thousands of people around the world.

I tell you it’s not the things that have been amplified from what I said on a stage. It’s the conversations I’ve had afterwards. The people who have challenged me, who have double clicked on the ideas. Like a comedian out in the field, the more I test these things, the more they evolve.

That makes it so exciting for me becaus,e ultimately, I’m a student. They say that we teach what we most need to learn. I spend a long time in tech where the strategy is “Test and learn.” That’s the theory. They also say, “Speed wins.” So putting this forward is a way to offer some thought bubbles.

Let’s see how these makes sense, if it all, to you.

This is a journey. Hopefully, ideas and practices will evolve and you can pluck a few ideas from the mental menu and try on what works in your life.

That’s how you get to test and learn.

At the end of the day, there are no experts in this post pandemic world. I’m not sure there is a post anymore. This is just our world. And in this world, we are figuring it out together.

Thanks for joining me on the journey. I look forward to many fantastic conversations.

I'm Kristin

I left my corporate work and dove further into how to navigate this noisy, digital, exhausted world. The result is a methodology centered on communications, productivity, and culture that blends theory with practice and helps people better enjoy the life they worked so hard to get.
